I was just wondering about something. I was going to update my HP iPAQ 5555 using a download from this site. When I was reading it, I noticed something:
"INSTALLATION NOTES:
Important: Please ensure you have completed the following tasks:
Do not enable the device password feature during the update process.
Do not attempt to turn off or restart the device while the update is
in progress.
Do not enable “Show information when device is turned on” feature during the update process. To disable, simply click “Owner” on the today screen and uncheck the box at the bottom of the page, then click the “Notes” tab at the bottom of the page and uncheck “Show information when device is turned on” located at the bottom of the page.
After applying a ROM update, do not attempt to restore a backup that was made before the ROM update was installed."
It's the last statement I have a question about. (I pasted all of it so you would have enough information.) Does the last sentence mean that I wouldn't be able to back up my files before the update and then restore them after the update? Or does it mean I wouldn't be able to go back the original factory settings after the update? I don't want to have to start from scratch with all my contacts and dates and programs. Is that what it means I'll have to do? Let me know.
Thanks,
Valerie
