In the Forums: AJOSoft - Today Weather

Our buddy James from Pocket PC Tools, has given us the head's up about a Free Today Screen app called Today Weather that they are currently featuring on their front page. He highly recommends it and I am loading it right now to see if he is good for his word.
AJOsoft's Today screen weather plug-in is like the others in many respects, it displays the current local weather and a 5 day forcast. But it has other features that make it stand out as well.
Enhanced information available by tapping on the Today screen. This provides the following features:
• Current temperature, air pressure and windspeed
• Trending of air pressure, temperature and windspeed
• Display of user-configurable radar and satellite images
• 5 day forecast
• Configuration of 6 different locations
• Configuration of Today screen format
Head on over and grab it HERE!

Sure, put the pressure on.

I just loaded it myself. I like it...I'm always checking the weather to see how much I should water my tomatoe plants...I like having the 4 day forecast right on my today screen.

So far so good. First thing this morning my icons disappeared though. A soft reset restored them.
I like having the weather handy like Bk, it's good to know if I should water the lawn, flowers, vegetables, or if I'm just wasting water because it is going to rain later. In NC the weather can go from bright and sunny to pouring down rain in 15 minutes

You should be aware of a development today with TodayWeather:
http://www.pocketpctools.com/modules...rder=0&thold=0
I'm linking to it rather than reposting it here, too.

James is the pocket computer software tools company referenced pocketpctools.com?
If so, a bit of a head's up. MSN weather has a tendency to shut down this type of product spidering the weather info and making it available commercially. PHP MyWeather was based on that same principal and I know the author of that plugin. They shut it down once it got so popular. I would expect the same would happen to this app as well once it became a popular commercial app.
Not to be negative and I'm not suggesting he not charge for it. It's a nice app and all, but the first thing I thought when I installed it Friday was "This is a great app as long as it stays fairly an unknown. Once it becomes big, MSN will cut it off."

Brad, nope, it's not us. We don't do commercial software. I don't know who it is but you're right- he's had some intermittent update failures in the past that I just found out searching back through his blog.
It would be interesting if the company was OmegaOne and they were just taking a free competitor off the market, wouldn't it?
No cards or letters, I just made that up.

What has irritated users is the statement in his posted docs that said TodayWeather "is and always will be freeware". At least it said that until this morning. :?

OK, Amit Regev of PocketBreeze fame is the one taking over TodayWeather. It's now called PocketWeather and is still free for a few months according to this announcement:

Good deal! I really, really like this app. I find myself looking at it every half hour or so. I didn't realize what a weather bug I was.

I discovered the hard way and pointed out on their forum- uninstall TodayWeather before installing PocketWeather. It leaves both programs on the device and neither will work.

Hey Brad, check out the forums on PocketBreeze web site. There's a My Assistant tool in the upper right corner that is the best of this type I've ever seen. It's extremely cool and really works.
