MS Reader is Hi-Res Aware

For those of you who were following my exploits last night, you were aware that I was installing WM2003SE on my Toshiba e805. I found excellent instructions on how to make normal applications "Hi-Res Aware" on brighthands forums.. The instructions are for making NetFront Hi Res aware and run in VGA mode.
Well, it appears that you can follow the same instructions for MSReader!

The "Hi-Res Aware" fix also works for Textmaker...I'm installing it now...I'm really excited about this WM2003SE release. I appear to be able to get all the applications that worked in VGA into a VGA mode while also being able to switch the screen to landscape on the fly...I'm continuing to find more applications. Yay!

You can't keep an e800 user down with mere lack of s/w support, eh?
I am very happy with SE and the hacks.

OH, before I forget. Since I hacked MS Reader all my DRM protected books won't open. I reactivated no problem but they still won't open. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet so I don't have a cure for it. So far as I can tell I'm the only lucky one this has happened to.
I'll probably have to reinstall Reader.

Hey fellas I was up at Comp-USA last night looking at the e800s. The guy was trying to sell me a "floor model" (yuck!) he said the e800s were discontinued and CompUSA was selling off their inventory.
What do you make of this? Last we heard the e800 like was going to continue :?

You bring up an interesting topic... retail availability of any PPC product. I am not a marketing expert only a consumer, but when I am going to drop a few 100 I would like to see the item I am buying - hence my biggest issue with Dell....
I can not find any retail outlet that carries a selection of PPC - any brand. I have been to Best Buy, CompUSA, Frys, OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Staples.
I think that is hurting the marketing of the devices.... they all seem to have Palms.

There are still rumors that Toshiba is going to pull out of the handheld market in the US. An item I saw yesterday claims they will continue the e800 in Europe but not the US.
The reality is only Toshiba knows and rumors are just rumors. I'm not concerned personally because even if they do pull out of the US they will still support the owners here. It would only negatively affect consumers who wish to buy one but haven't yet.
HP's 4700 looks very nice, doesn't it?

bk, a task manager and battery meter for the top menu bar that works well (so far) in SE is Magic Button. It's pretty simple but functional. I had really missed a battery meter and TM since I switched to SE but this one seems to work OK. Well, for the 5 minutes since I installed it.

For those of you who have installed SE.....Isn't this cool! I love having something to tinker around with!.... I'm not talking about the operating system (although I am liking it)...I'm talking about having software with hacks that allow you to discover new things that no one knew about...That's why I love these gadgets and computers in general... If I didn't have a PPC and a computer, I'd probably have an old muscle car to tinker around with.....Oh wait, I DO have a 67 firebird..
There's like a buzz on all the different forums about who found what application will work with SE and what you have to do to it to get it to work in VGA....That's what I love!
