Some s/w developers decided a while back to introduce A/V protection for PPCs. Personally I find it amusing since there's never been a single report of a virus spreading on PPCs.
And if I'm not mistaken, most A/V s/w requires the signature of known viruses to be able to detect and remove infected files. I don't know how they can do this with no signatures in existence.

Hurphh! Viruses, virus protection, spam.......... It's all a conspiracy I tell just ask the Illuminati or Knights Templar, they'll tell you.
Just a self-perpetuating commercial engine, commissioned to generate revenue from the web unaware.
