Hi Addicts,
Thought I'd do a quick "blog" post from the road. I am north of home this weekend, up in Arlington Va. for a memorial service up at Arlington cemetary.
I have no computer, no laptop, not even a CF modem card. Instead, I am trying to hop between WiFi hotspots to post this. It's not easy. The hotel room picks up 3 different hotspots in the area. One is locked, the other is just out of reach and this one is intermittent. If I hold my right arm up in the air and lift my left foot 6 inches off the ground then there's a connection, otherwise, it's dead
It dawned on me yesterday, that packing for a trip is much different than it was 5 years ago. A trip five years ago probably my biggest concern was "did I pack enough socks?!?! How about my black slacks?? If I don't have my black slacks, I'm done for!!!" Today, however, the priorities are much different. I found myself stressing about things like "Do I have my mini-sync cable? How about my XM cassette adapter? If I don't have my foldup keyboard I am done for!!!"
I just noticed that my wifi link is out again. I must have breathed wrong.
Ain't that the truth! Back when I was a Palm user - I had the VII with the antennae - my biggest concerns when travelling were:
A) Did I have enough batteries (remember, the old palm pilots weren't rechargeable, they used AAA's)
B) Did I have my foldup keyboard
C) Oh yeah, clothes? Sure - throw a couple pairs of something in the bag.
Now when travelling, I can stretch a couple pairs of slacks and a couple golf shirts for a week. I HAVE to have my miniSynch, laptop and Axim though.
I have done this a few times now. The trick is always finding hotspots though. I wish Verizon had a CF card for the Express Network as a fallback for me.
I love working on my PPC in the hotel room. Long live Starbuck's!

I feel I must admit that when I travel now I have to ask myself some additional questions e.g.:
Have I got my tickets (check)
Do I know where I'm going (check)
Have I programmed in and saved as favorites my destination points on my Ipaq Gps systems (Doh!)
Do I have my main charger (check)
Do I have the adaptor for my Ipaq mains charger (Doh!)
Have I packed my additional memory cards (Hmmm, Doh!)
Have I packed my external battery (check)
Have I packed the ipaq sleeve that holds the additional battery (Doh!)
And they said a computerised/paperless society would make things easier
Stress, I eat stress for breakfast, lunch and supper. coz I don't have time to eat anything else! !
