A SeattlePI article reveals there is a new plastic type of resin called Electriplast that could be used in the creation of devices like pacemakers, cellphones, Pocket PCs and other devices requiring an antenna. By creating the device itself out of Electriplast, you would virtually be turning your Pocket PC into it's own antenna! The result is lower battery drain and nearly the same reception as traditional antennas. "Electriplast isn't on the market yet, but trials are going on at four Fortune 100 companies, and major handset makers have expressed strong interest, said Aisenbrey, who holds two patents on the substance and has 44 more pending.
The inexpensive material, also known as Plastenna, conducts heat, electricity and radio- frequency energy nearly as well as copper, yet it can be mixed with rigid or flexible plastics and formed into just about any shape plastic can take on, he said."
Any labcoat wearing geeks wanna tell us if this will work or not ?
