Is it just me or in the past two weeks VoIP has become the RAGE of the Internet? I mean just yesterday, the "Free Phone Call" Software PocketSkype was released. A few short weeks ago, we saw WiFive software released that similarly allows free phone calls over the Net.
Now The New York Times has caught the bug too and has published their view of Free Internet Phone calls "...The latest life component to make a radical, Internet-driven shift is ordinary home telephone service.
This development is annoyingly called voice-over-Internet protocol, or VoIP, which means "calls that use the Internet's wiring instead of the phone company's." When you sign up, you get a little box that goes between your existing telephone and your broadband modem (that is, your cable modem or D.S.L. box, a requirement for most of these services)."
Do you plan on using a VoIP service in the coming months? If so will it be using Pocket PC and a Skype type of connection? Or will you go for the VoIP pro service where you'd use your home phone?
I would love to switch over to VOIP but I haven't been able to determine if you can make calls to other VOIP providers....or what other limitations there might be....
