Are You Troubled by Alarm Problems with Your Pocket PC?

For frequent readers of PPC Addict, you probably know that I've had my share of problems on my iPAQ HP 2215 with alarms sounding. Fortunately, HP's new ROM upgrade has done the trick and I have not missed an alarm since I applied the upgrade! Knock on wood.
However, there are far more devices out there than the HP1945 and HP2215 series that have had Alarm problems. So I am curious to find out what devices and OS versions out there are still experiencing problems.
Who knows, if you are having problems, we can probably help. I personally have tried over a dozen apps, registry hacks and tricks to get my alarms running.
Are you still plagued with alarm problems? Yes or no...if yes, what type of device do you have and what OS are you running?

I installed Pocket Plus and it resolved all my alarm issues.

I know this isn't exactly in the same vein as Brad (presumably) intended but...................!
I've got an Ipaq 3970 and I'd like for an appointment to ring constantly like an alarm clock (Sleeping on the job again :? ) rather than just ping at me once.
I've also been using Pocket Informant to schedule my appointments.
Has anybody got an suggestions.

I used Superalert for a LOOOONG time on my 3975 for repeating alarms. Worked very well for 2002 but incompatible with OS2003.
I'd give it a try Pocketgear download

Ipaq 2210 problems with alarms continue

I have installed the latest upgrade (April 2004) and I am still having alarm issues. Before, the unit would not 'wake up' but when I turned it on manually, all the alarms would ring that I missed. Now, the alarms just sail by with no notification at all, even when I turn on the unit manually.
I cannot understand how such a critical feature is full of bugs that require work arounds. I'd say 50% of the reason I boought my Ipaq was to act as my memory for me when I am away from my PC so I do not miss important calls, meetings, whatever. I non longer have any faith in it so it is now a brick that I can use to turn on my TV.
Anyone else still having problems after the upgrade?

I had a problem with spb time and my iPAQ 4150. It would not alarm when my iPAQ was off!
I was late to work for almost 1 week!
How do you explain to your boss that you were trying out new software on your PPC?
Better to say the dog ate it!

Spb Pocket Plus fixed alarms (nice repeating alarms) for me too and the latest version of SpbTime is brilliant - the alarms now wake my PPC so no more excuses for sleeping in!
Using IPAQ 4150

I think too many people have overlooked the value of the 1.10 ROM upgrade for the 2215. And they haven't given HP credit for fixing WM2003 bugs (alarms, notification db, etc.) that other manufacturers HAVEN'T fixed.
The 1.10 ROM upgrade fixed all of the little niggling annoyances I had with the 2215. (If anyone applies it, make sure NOT to restore any backups made under previous ROM versions)

Does the latest version of SpbTime fix this issue?
Do I need to warn my boss before I re-install it?!

Hi there!
I'm having problems with my HP IPAQ rx 1950 (OS 5.1)
First, when I started using my SD card, the ipaq turned off and to turned on again I had to soft reset cause the on/off button didn`t worked.
And now I'm having trouble with the sound of the reminders in the calendar and tasks options.
I hope there is something to do with this Ipaq and both problems, cause I`m very disappointed with this machine.

Thanks a lot!!

I found this great review of pocketMax Software phoneAlarm v1.53. This is a great alternative to built-in alarms...

I'd recommend downloading the latest ROM updates for your HP iPAQ rx1950. It also addresses the SD card / power on issue you were having, it might fix your alarm and reminder issue as well. Check out all the updates here:

Software and Drivers - HP iPAQ rx1900 Pocket PC series rx1950, Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0
