Hmmm...there are several different car maintenance programs. But I haven't heard of one that you actually attach to your car.
Anyone else?

Sorry

Ya know what....I got it mixed up with a Popular Science article about "Cheat Codes" for the BMW..
Interesting article though...
There's a cheat code in the software running the BMW M3's sequential manual gearbox (SMG): Press the right buttons in the right order and the car will launch you from a stop after revving the engine to 5,000 rpm. But don't look for a how-to in the owners' manual—this feature is undocumented, an inside joke of sorts.

What you are looking for - Engine Scanners

Hi, here are 2 of the products your looking for to hook a PDA up to your car. You can read the codes etc... from the OBD (on-board computer). You can read the details at each site.
I have the one from EASE and the one from Autoenginuity is on the way.

Hey, those are pretty cool! :mrgreen:
Never really thought about scanning my engine, etc. using my PPC. I've always left that up to the pros. But it would be great if you were looking at used cars you could just whip out your PPC and test it on the spot.
You could start quizzing the seller: "Hey, I see you've rolled back the odometer...care to explain?"

using the scanner tool

It works real good. I have been having an intermintent with my Ford F150. Using the scan tool, I was able to see stored codes that showed cylinders 2,3,4,7,8 had stored some mis-fire codes. With this info, I went to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty.
I'm a happy camper now.

engine analyzer

I assume your asking about the PDA Scanner and not the truck. I've only had it a couple of weeks. The one I have now is from EASE. I also have bought one from AutoEnginuity (due in next week).
I want to compare the 2 as there are some slightly different functions. Both are fully OBDII compliant however.

I wished I had this months ago. This problem with the truck has gone on for about 9 months and 6 trips to the dealer. If I had the unit ealier, the problem would have been fixed much faster and less hassel. I think the
people at the dealer arn't using there tools properly!
