Don't you hate checking your mobile email via an expensive GPRS connection just to find that you have 30+ spams in there? Slashdot, has a post titled The Family That Spams Together Stays Together, which refers to a Globe and Mail article detailing how a Family alleged to have run lucrative spam factory from Kitchener, Ont., home. "The Yahoo suit claims that Eric Head, along with his father and brother, were sending out millions of spam emails per month, as well as compiling lists of email addresses to sell to other spammers. Eric's company, Gold Disk Canada Inc., gathered lists of email addresses and sold them for $29.99 for 100,000 email addresses on up to $1,599.99 for 10 million addresses."
Any comments? What should happen to this family?
This case may help resolve an important issue in the new spam laws - who has jurisdiction? The jurisdiction where the spam originates? is sent from (relayed)? or sent to? I can live in California, create my mail and lists here but actually send the mail off a relay server in another country - to people anywhere in the world. Where did I commit my crime?
Well, thatīs what we call world.
The only think that I donīt like is that the writer took a hispanic guy for the article. We always are portraited like the bad guys!

Nahh...I don't think so. It didn't even register with me that he was Hispanic. Even if it did, it's not the type of thing you'd label all members of a culture with.
Frankly, I thought I read somewhere the majority of people who took the spam bait were much older. Like 60+ years old - who might be newer to computers and Internet and not know what they are doing. He just confirms younger people are doing it too.
But the article says that he is a grandfather so he is old.
Basically who likes the spam is because donīt know how to find good deals in the web. But this guy is talking like he knows a little bit about web pages, ebay, etc... So he should be stupid No question about it.

Interesting....I never even thougtht he was hispanic...for some reason I though he was asian (the last name "soto" sounded asian to me)....
And I didn't think he was "bad" just different.
