At&t Tilt Screen during phone call??

On my tilt during a phone call the screen will dim after a couple of seconds and then go completely out as if i pressed the power button to put the phone in sleep mode. The phone call isnt dropped i can still talk but if i want to get the phone screen to come back up i have to turn the scroll wheel (volume adjust) for the screen to come back. Ive tried changing the backlight settings so that it just says on and nothing it still does it. Any suggestions???

its just a way to make sure you dont push buttons on the screen with your ear and accidently hang up or anything.

if you need to hit see hte screen hit the power button or any of the other buttons will turn the screen on i believe since its not really in sleep mode the screens just off
