i just recently picked up a HP ipaq for 100 bucks from a buddy that was hard up on money. thing is like new basicly. not a scratch on it. its the 5550 model i think . or something close to that.
i have a motorola q already so i can get around alittle bit on the pocket pc world. but sooo so new still. dont really have much time to play with it much. basicly use it for phone email and web browsing while on the run..
so i pickedup this IPAQ. first question i have is i know it does not have wifi on this model.. were do i find a wifi card? i see some on ebay but nothing says it will fit this thing. will any one of those sd card ones work??? if so then cool i can get one pretty cheap.. if not what the hell do i do?
second,, does this have phone capibilities ? and if it does do i HAVE to have phone service for it to be "useable"? kind of just want it to have for hot spots or sitting on couch or out at the shop taking notes on cars and stuff.
so were do i find the wifi card??? is question 1..
do i have to have a phone plan or some sort of service provider to use it? is question 2..
and do you think 100 bucks is a good deal for this thing?? if anything i think i could sell it on ebay for 200 bucks.. that is the 3rd question..
and last but not least, how good are these things? i know i cant get dick for my Q for software with out buying it.. is there more apps and usuable things i can do with this since its been out longer? or is it a big digital calander and planner??

Your 5550 is a Pocket PC, meaning it's a very small PC running some flavor of Windows Mobile. It does not have phone capabilities. If you want an Internet connection, you'll need an SDIO Card (Secure Digital Input/Output). Google that, and I think you'll find what you're looking for. As for software for the iPaq, a good resource is any website, such as this one (PPCGeeks.com is another very good one) that has forums dedicated to software. The folks there can provide some excellent direction.
Cant help w/ your question re: price. I'm a recent PPC convert, coming from the BB world.
