hi all,
i just got the HTC touch with windows mobile 6 installed
i was wondering if the "silence" option exists in this OS, u know like the nokia mobiles.
i mean someone is calling and i want to disable the ringer tone but not give them a busy tone, the only 2 options i see for an incoming call are tapping ignore or hitting the red button, and those two seam to do the same thing which is hang up or give a busy tone.
is there some check box here or there i'm missing , or some option to allow me to mute the ringer but not give a busy tone?

You should be able to set the phone to vibrate which will eliminate the ring, but the phone will still vibrate. I don't have a Touch, but HTC usually included a Comm Manager for doing this. On my 8125 (also a HTC device) I can hold a hard button down (top left side of unit) for a few seconds and toggle between vibrate and sound. Note that this also means vibrate or no sound for all apps not just the phone.
You might want to take a look at a phone profile manager for something more robust. There are several. I use PhoneWeaver.
