Okay, I just got my mda gms smart phone today. It is an unlocked phone, so I use my Cingular service with it. Everything works fine except, I can not send/get picture messages. How can I fix this issue. Also, On the top left part of my screen there is a E, does that mean I am connected to any internet or anything that may charge me out the wazooooo?! Thanks guys! Have a great weekend -Jess

The E most likely means you are connected via Edge rather than GPRS. Edge is faster. Neither are free. You have to have sme type of data plan, so what you are paying depends upon your plan.
What application are you using to send/receive pictures? I think that MMS supports this, but basic messaging does not (other than attachments).
I went to use the internet, it would not work. SO I don't think it was connected at all. I am using mms but i dont think it's setup right since i dont have tmobile, i have at&t. But texting works...

Texting uses the cellular network, so that working doesn't mean anything. Do you have a data plan with Cingular? If you do not have a plan, that is the issue. If you do have a plan, and still can't get out, then something is not cofigured properly.

well you could go about this two ways, one you could refer to the top of this forum were it says cingular settings tim who was nice enough to post them and enter them manually. http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forums...e-edition.html
either of these will work and after that you should have no problem accessing the internet if you have a data plan.

SO, about my picture messaging, I called AT&T, and they said since my phone is unlocked, it can not recieve picture messaging. boo
oh well!
Also, I do not have a data plan. I just want to set up my wifi. Thanks for all the help guys
You should not have to do anything in particular to setup wi-fi. When you activate it, the phone should look for a signal, ask you if you want to connect, etc. It walks you through.
I suspect that the phone being unlocked means that AT&T will not support you, not that it cannot do picture messages. You may need a third party program to do that though. You might want to take a look at Flexmail (the link escapes me, but you can Google it) and see if it supports images.
I have a wifi connection, but whenever I go to load the page it says this page can not be found. check the name and try again. Thank you SOOO much for all the help. I am so dumb when it comes to this phone lol

To my knowledge you should not have to do anything special. PIE (Pocket Internet Explorer) should just look for an active connection and use whatever is available. That said, since I have always had a data plan, maybe there is more to it.
On my phone (8125 running WM5) when I activate wi-fi I get a little icon on the top of the screen that looks like a pawn in a chess game with two horizontal lines moving back and forth until connected. Once connected the lines "freeze" in place. Is this the same for you? Are you sure you are accessing a connection that is not secured in some fashion?
Ya, mine looks just like that. I do not belive it is secured. I just know that when I go to settings, connections, then the connections icon it goes to my work connections. Then under advanced I go to select network, and to my work netword and edit and there is nothing listed under that. Is there supposed to be something there

Here are a couple of screen shots from my phone. When I go to Settings|Connections Tab|Network Cards I see the connections.jpg. When I tap on the Newtwork Adapters tab I see the adapters.jpg. Does yours look something like this (the pictures are showing in reverse order)?
Ya it looks like that. Under the configure network adapters the ne2000 compatible ethernet driver is selected. Is that how it should be
Getting out of my area of expertise, but that's not too hard. Here is what I would suggest:
Follow the steps that somebody a few replies up suggested for setting up a GPRS connection. I looked on another forum (which I will reference in a minute) and somebody there thought that you needed a connection setup before wi-fi would work.
If that does not do the trick, head over the the XDA-Developers Forum (the link is direct to the Wizard Forum as I believe the MDA is a HTC Wizard). Do some searching to see if you can find an answer, and if not try posting there. The people there tend to very technically literate. There can be a low tolerance for people posting questions before searching for the answer, so make sure you search first.
you know the only reason they know its an unlocked phones is because you told them that. just call 611 and tell them its a 8125 and they will walk you through it. and yet another solution which is a little more difficult but worth it if you have the time it cid unlock the phone and install a cingular rom.
