Welcome..
If you want to transfer files to your pocket pc simply do this by using the active sync, if your your pocket pc is connected openactive sync and click on Explore this will open a explorer window with the contect of your pocket pc. Or a simplier way is copy your documents in the folder that active sync created it should be named after your device name..
Now for the GPRS connection you can try to delete the default connection on your device under connection, so that everytime that your device needs internet connection it will not be able to do it..

From the "Tools" menu in Activesync select "Explore Pocket PC" and this will bring up a window with a number of locations in your device. The decision now is whether to put it on the memory card (which is preferred to save device memory) which can be accessed by selecting "My Windows Based Mobile Device>Storage Card and drag and drop it into this window. There may be a message about converting it to PPC format. Select OK.

If you don't have a storage card you can store the document in "Personal" which is similar to a my documents folder.

Now select word from the Programs list and you will be shown a list of saved word files. You can now select your document and edit with the functions available in Word, or read at your leisure.

This is not the only method, however if you're new to PPC I won't list all of them to confuse the hell out of you. You'll pick them up when you get more confident with your new best friend.

Sorry about the GPRS, but I haven't been able to get rid of mine yet neither. Perhaps one of our learned moderators/senior members may be able to assist with this one. Ask more questions if you need to. Hope that helped and have fun.
