PPC6700 won't wake up after auto-power off

For some reason, my PPC6700 will no longer "wake up" if the PPC automatically powers off. The only way I can wake it up is by soft-resetting it. If I use the power button to turn off the unit, the unit turns off. If I press the power button again, the unit comes back on. But, if I let the unit automatically turn itself off after 3 minutes, the unit does not wake up when I press the power or any other button.

This is only a recent problem -- the unit worked fine until this past weekend (coincidentally, the first day with the new Daylight Saving Time rules!).

I am trying to avoid doing a hard reset or puttting it into boot loader mode -- does anyone have any suggestions?

I am wondering if a value in the registry got mis-set associated with power management.

Thanks!
