Once again, if you are trying to give us your OS version, there is no PocketPC version 4.
Go to Settings...System...About and you should see your OS version listed. It can be PocketPC 2002 or Windows Mobile 2002/2003/2003 Second Edition/5. It might also give you the Windows CE version that relates to the OS and a build number.
If the CE version is 4.xx.xxxx, the OS should be WM2003 or 2003 Second Edition.
That's telling us something. I think that particular Windows designation is used by WM2003 (AFAIK, Second Edition uses version 4.21.xxxx). It does not appear that Microsoft will be issuing a direct patch for anything older than WM5. They do have a Knowledge Base article that discusses the needed changes for folks who want to build a patch. Have you checked your device maker's web site to see if they have anything posted?
No, I didn't think to do that - I guess I'm just used to updates coming from MS. It's an Ipaq, so I'll see if the HP site has anything. I did find a .cab file to update the registry, but it was written for WM5. They say is SHOULD work on older versions, but I'd perfer to find something made for it if possible.
For Windows Mobile, each maker issues the OS updates for their devices since each OS image is tailored for the specific hardware of each model line. While you're at the HP site you can see if there are other updates available for your model.
