Exclamation Troubleshooting

...call me careless, but in the past two months i've dropped my device number of times, and this is really hurting my pocket. I've changed the housing twice in the past three months, .....few days ago it happened again, this time the impact was on the back panel of my device, since i had it at my place, i changed it. Superficially it looks okie, but what irritates me most is that a small jerk leads me to loose my entire data, for example only today, i had to reinstall my OS, atleast five times, ....now i know the easier solution is to go to professionl and have it fixed. But, believe me or not, the amount of money i've spent on fixing this device, i could have easily bought Nokia N series,........i know that the device that holds the battery needs to be tweaked, ........but how ? can anyone help ? .........

Ah, I see the xda mini runs WM2003SE. The biggest problem with that OS is that if your battery power runs out, all the memory gets erased. This problem was solved when Microsoft released WM5...

Unfortunately, there is no WM5 update for your device.

The only other option, like you said, is to switch to a device that runs WM5 (Windows Mobile 5) or to use backup software.

All the backup software that I've tried (SPB Backup, Sprite backup) will allow you to save the backup file to an external card or even to your pc. Some will even create a self-executing file, so if your device should lose all its memory, all you have to do is double tap on the file and it will restore all your settings, contacts, files and such.

Some of them can also be scheduled to run automatically, say at 3am every night - this way you always have an up-to-date backup available!

Hope that helps~

Hi BrianC,

I would like to ask if there is available troubleshooting guide for O2 ATOM. My problem is the buttons in the front unit are not working, but the other buttons on the left side and the right side (which is the camera shortcuts) are working fine.
A day before i can still use the buttons in videoing my kids, and next day i received an incoming call and use the buttons to picked it up my phone is still ringing, now i noticed that the buttons are not working. That problem i could not even hard reset my unit.

Is there any corrupted file in my unit? How can i repair it on my own.

thanks and regards...

can't match BrainC' s brainstorming but if your system's files are corrupt then try this software Mermaid, maybe it can solve your problem.

MemMaid has a free trial period, but does require purchase to keep it functioning after that. Fortunately, it is very inexpensive. The Dinarsoft web site provides a purchase link.
