From the router model number, I suspect it supports wifi G. Does it also support B? I may be mistaken but I think B is what I think your iPAQ has built-in.

G routers do not necessarily support B; those that do usually clearly state as much.

It has worked before but the problem is consistency. The wireless router's signal might be off i tried different channels (currently channel 11). I have the settings of the wireless router at mixed so that both the desktop computer and the pocket pc can have an internet connection. The main problem is i don't know what the settings on the ipaq rx1950 should such as the network authentication, should it be open, shared, WPA, or WPA-SK? ANd the data encryption, WEP or disabled? what about 802.1x?

ANyone a professional at this model of pocket pc give suggestions.

Thanks

The first step is knowing what the router's security settings are. If the desktop is consistently connecting successfully to the router, its configuration settings will give that info. Since it is prompting for a key, the desktop will need the same info to make its connection and you should be able to get everything you need except the key, which you hopefully have written somewhere.

HOw good a signal will you be able to get on a linksys wireless router wrt54g v5 if you use your pda upstairs (one floor up) and if it is poor, is there a way to boost the signal to a very reliable level?

ANy signal boosters (cheap?)

Thanks

You could try to make your own: DIY signal booster

There's another design floating around the internet that uses a pringles can...or was it a soup can...but that's a lot more directional...
