I am having trouble setting up my Gmail as a pop server. I had it recieving mail and not sending then I talked with sprint and they told me to try a hard reset now I cant get it to recieve or send. anyone have tips for the set up. I will probably pay yahoo for pop sevices but I am checking out my options. Even through the net I cant check my mail on yahoo. any help appreciated.
i had the same problem with sprint...the outgoing mail server for emails needs to be sprints and you need to set the "other settings" under a sprint user id and pw...i got transfered to advance technical support and was able to get it resolved...let me know how it goes...but at least get a sprint user id and pw...i can always give you the settings...well i can later when im not at work
I thought I have been talking to sprint advance support but no one has told me this I dont understand about getting a sprint user ID and password could u explaine in detail. I would appreciate the info. Thanks in advance.
sure...i guess ill try to explain the situation i went through with sprint...my home email is through adelphia and i was able to get emails and email alerts to my phone off of the adelphia address (instead of hotmail where i had to send and receive to see new emails)...i was not able to respond or send new emails from adelphia...after multiple conversations with sprint i found that the outgoing mail server needs to be smtp.sprintpcs.com (sprints) since you are using their network to send emails...there are also additional outgoing settings that will need to be set and set with your sprint id and pw (email id and pw)
here are my settings
messaging/menu/tools/options/[select email to modify]
enter full email address
enter name/id/pw for this email address
save pw
select pop3
name email to whatever you want to help identify the account
set incoming mail server
set outgoing mail server to smtp.sprintpcs.com
choose options
choose rate/interval you want to connect to retrieve emails
connection - internet
click outgoing mail requires authentication
click use seperate mail settings
outgoing settings
enter sprint id and pw
save pw
ok and finish
hope this helps and sorry it got lengthy...i really suggest you get your sprint email/id/pw set up or someone else replies but this was the solution i found and i found to work for me
be sure in gmail to change the settings over to POP3. It does not default to POP3. Once done you should be able to pull down you email. They even have a config page there will all the settings necessary for your device.
