You should check Adelphia's settings. Many services use a slightly different address to route sent mail using SMTP. Make sure outgoing mail does not require something like smtp.mail.adelphia.com. Also, find out whether or not the outgoing server requires authentication. You should only have that option checked if the service requires it. At the same time you can verify whether or not you should use SSL in the authentication process. All these will need to be set according to Adelphia's specs. You may be able to find your answers at Adelphia, listed as server settings for Outlook.

By default, WM sets the outgoing mail port to 25 but some services block that port as a security measure. Check your desktop Outlook to see if a different port number is used to send mail through Adelphia.

Are you connecting to the Adelphia service with your 6700? If you are actually connecting to another ISP, you will need THAT isp's outgoing mail server

Not necessarily; only if you are using the ISP's mail service. As example, I have one email account set up on my device to access my Yahoo POP3 mail account. I generally connect via Verizon Wireless. The outgoing server on the email works nicely set for the Yahoo SMTP server. However, if I connect through an Earthlink dial-up connection on the road, I need to remember to change the outgoing port from 25 to the alternate accepted by Yahoo as Earthlink seems to block port 25 even though it is not an issue for Verizon Wireless.

The Adelphia mail servers are set to not allow email relaying. If you are not currently connected with an Adelphia IP address, you can not use their outgoing mail server

just got the problem fixed...wanted to post the solution for anyone else out there that might run into the same problem...called sprint and was transferred to their advanced technical support..it turns out that that outgoing mail server is sprints and you have to set up outgoing mail settings on step 2/3 under options...

I had a similar problem. You just add the port number after the address. Like: smtp.gmail.com:465

I got all of my addresses to work. pop3, gmail, hotmail...etc. Also if you use gmail it does not download SPAM!! amazing...
