I have an unlocked cingular 8125, but I'm using tmobile service. I tried to setup MMS (instruction from TMO) but that didn't work. The instructions they had for the MDA (which is equivalent to the cingular 8125) didn't quite match what I see. The instruction ask for an entry of access point name "wap.voicestream.com" whereas I see an entry for a phone # following by user/password field. Maybe it's the difference in ROM between cingular/tmobile. I also tried flashing with the tmobile ROM, but that didn't work ...
complained about "can't find a valid vendor id" (think that's what it said).
Anyone done this before or can offer some help? Thanks!
I found 1 mistake I made. I selected "cellular line" instead of "cellular line (GPRS)", but it still didn't work. I got the "access point name" field but the following from asked for
user name & password. TMO instructions didn's show that.
I notice that after selecting "cellular line (GPRS)" and going through the rest of the from, it reverts back to "cellular line". What I did was the same as what was posted on Tim's thread.

Hello Shimazuc,
Thank for your response. I did the following ... guess it's the same as you.
(this was taken from the tmobile website). I'm on the phone with tmobile tech right now ... been calling tmobile 5 times now (3 hours), and not able to get it to work.
Tap Start.
Tap Settings.
Tap on the Connections tab.
Tap the Connections icon.
Tap Add a new modem connection under T-Mobile GPRS.
Enter PictureMessaging in the Enter a name for the connection field.
Tap to select Cellular Line (GPRS) from the Select a modem drop down list.
Tap Next.
Enter wap.voicestream.com in the Access point name field.
Tap to select T-Mobile GPRS from the Connect via drop down list.
Hi there, how come I don't see this? I only see My ISP network, work, internet, wap, such and such option but nothing about T-mobile GPRS in this list.
Are you using the T-Mobile ROM? I'm guessing you don't see it because you have a different ROM. I don't see it on mine either since mine is a Cingular. I used a different name other than "t-mobile gprs" but the setting points to t-mobile. This solution still has NOT work yet ... I'm guessing MMS feature needs a t-mobile ROM or there may be some setting in the registry that I have not figured out.
MMS is a tricky thing to handle when you use unlocked phones. I'm currently using an unlocked phone with cingulars service, but MMS is a problem, I can send but I can't receive. I think when trying to get MMS messages the server doesn't recognize the unlock phone. Can you guys send or receive?
I can't send nor receive MMS. I'm thinking there's probably some settings in the registry or in the ROM itself. I'm thinking of CID unlock my phone to I can flash it with the ROM from my provider.
I went through my setup with a t-mobile tech once, and a bunch of time
myself. I'm pretty sure it's correct. I've seen others on various forums with the same problem. I'm about to try the cab posted by "lvlolvlo" from someone
else's post:
After many gruling hours of trial and error I have figured out the settings for my unlocked DOPOD 818 pro (pocket pc) which was purchased abroad and now configured to Cingular in the USA with the purchased Media Max plan for $19.95 per month. This is how to set up Cingular MMS, GPRS, Email and internet.
If you have the same situation, GREAT for you... If you have a different phone or service maybe some of this info will help.
Just lanch the attached word document and read and enjoy.
