Wi-Fi

I read on the forum how to delete the links to Cingular connection, and Im going to work tomorrow. The workplace is a Wi-Fi location, and Im still a bit in the dark as to what to do when I get there. Do I simply enable Wi-Fi on the 8125, and then click on IE?

i'm also having trouble connecting to wifi. i deleted the media net thing and now when i go to settings/connections tab/connections it looks like this
My ISP
add a new modem connection
manage existing connections
My Work Network
Add a new moden connection
add a new VPN server connection
set up my proxy server

so i went to manage existing connections under My ISP and it says

Auto pick
my isp csd +14152441012
my isp gprs

should there be a wifi option there?

I hit the new button to try to make a new connection but wifi isnt a modem choice. And when i try to access a web site in IE it says connecting to my isp csd and it has that number. Is that cingular? I'm pretty computer illiterate so if someone could help me with a step by step that would be great. Thanks a ton

wannabe cowboy, when u get to work, turn on wifi and when your phone finds a signal, it'll ask u if u wanna connect. if it doesn't, click start, settings, connections tab, network cards....from there you'll see all available networks. if you right click (tap and hold) that network, u should see an option to connect....if it doesn't connect, the signal isn't strong enough. you might wanna download a util like wififofum, which will let u see where the wifi hotspots are.sawhit6,I'm assumin ur tryna avoid charges when browsing on the net using your phone. if ur completely tryna get rid of the medianet settings, click start, settings, connections tab, then click connections. you should see "manage connections".click there. from there, get rid of anything that says either medianet or cingular gprs. now, go back to the main connections screen (where u previously clicked manage connections) and click on the advanced tab. click select networks...u should see three options: medianet, my isp and my work network. choose medianet and remove it. now, in order to turn on wifi in the first place...click start, programs, comm manager. the second button down on the column on the left should be the wifi button. click there and it should remove the x from the wifi button (one indication that wifi is on). now at the top of your screen next to your signal strength meter, u should see an icon that looks like a tower with arrows moving in different directions. now u should be able to connect ONLY when ur around a wifi.if u have any questions, just get at me and ill try to help.

Delete Medianet?

Eyerone,
In your post you suggested that:
click select networks...u should see three options: medianet, my isp and my work network. choose medianet and remove it. I found those three options, but I dont see any way to delete the medianet from that screen. There is no option on the screen to delete.

select medianet, then click edit...which should take u to the modem tab. click on the general tab at the bottom..and it should say medianet at the top of the page; click delete settings and bam...its gone..

that should do it.

Network Management Screen

That worked...thanks. Now, just to make sure that Im connecting using Wi-Fi, on my Network Management Screen, it says the following:

Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
dsl
3
My ISP Name
My work network
My ISP

I have it set to dsl.....is that correct?

Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:
dsl
3
My ISP Name
My work network
My ISP
My company name

I have it set to dsl....is that correct?

Youre helping me a lot. I simply want to ensure that Im using the Wi-Fi access, and NOT my cinular ISP.
Again, thanks.
