I don't have my 8125 yet, but it is supposed to arrive wednesday, I received an email from cingular about transfering my contacts from my old sim card to my new. I went to the tutorial specified and I didn't really see what I was looking for. How do I go about transfering from the old sim to the new and not have duplicates. I would like the contacts to stay on the sim. Not really on the PPC.
The other question I have is, I ordered a 2 gig minisd card from newegg, ( the FLASH 2G|ADATA MINISD 60X 2G R - Retail ) is this going to work for my 8125? I read after the fact that it only uses the 1 gig. Is this true?
Hi Dave!
first things first... why aren't you using your old sim card? The 8125 and the MDA are close cousins, and I am using the same old sim card I had before... but all of my contacts are on Outlook, which is what ActiveSync uses to keep your data and your calendar synchronized.
I checked in my phone, and it looks like you can put the old sim card in the phone, copy all the numbers into your contact list (the sim card numbers appear in the contact list, too) and then simply synchronize!
As for the 2 gig card, I'm using a 1 gig miniSD and it's worked well... the big problem is the main memory restrictions this phone has... I can't multitask while listening to music... Otherwise, I'm sure the new card will work fine! ..........
From what I hear, there isn't really any big difference. The reason Cingular is pushing for the 64k sim is because they want to consolidate all their networks. Cingular was made out of a lot of different networks, after the ATT wireless buy out, they decided to move to the 64K just to make everything more uniform. I hear that you can hold more contacts, but I dont know. It is a serious issue for people who bought expensive phones that are not compatible with the new sim card. Cingular offers their lowest model phone for free as an initiative for people using the old sim to switch over.
