Welcome to Pocket PC Addict Joester12456!

For message alerts, such as your text messages, you must use .wav files... mp3 will not work. As a warning, .wav files can get quite large if too lengthy so make sure to keep it short and keep the bit rate low 32 to 96 Kbps.

Once you have your .wav file... connect your device to your computer using activesync. And explore your device... double-click on 'My Windows Mobile-Based Device'... then drag and drop your .wav file into the Windows folder.

Next, on your device go to the start menu and then settings. Tap on 'Sounds & notifications' and go to the notifications tab. In the events drop-down menu choose the type of notification for which you choose to change the sound. Check the 'Play sound' box and choose the .wav file you created. Now close everything and try it out.

I hope this helps and let me know if any of this is confusing or if you're still having trouble. good luck!
