Cingular 8125 Aim and Alarm!

Hey everyone! I'm Oscar but you can all me Oska for short. Anyways, I'm new to Pocket Pc Addict. This is my first thread so dont flame =P. I got 1 questions.
First, I just got myself a Cingular 8125, and I cant find AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) into my phone. Can anyone help me out with this?
Second, Is there anyway i can use mp3 files as my alarm tone? I can hardly hear the ones they provide in the phone for alarms even when im awake. This phone is too complicated.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Pocket PC Addict Oska! To answer your second question you could click here for another thread which might give you an answer. As for your first question, I'm not too sure... maybe there's someone else out there who could shed some light. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hey Oska! For my 8125, I installed Agile Messenger and have loved it. It's an excellent IM client and handles AIM along with MSN, ICQ, etc.

As for the alarm sounds, as far as i've seen, they can only be WAV files and they're located in the Windows directory.

Hey Oska! Agile messenger is a beautiful program and if you use aim alot another thing I've found to go along side of Agile Messenger. Is Instant Message Forwarding, which you can sign up for at MyMobile - My Mobile Main

This way you don't have to be signed into Agile messenger or even have it installed to receive a Instant msg. All your IM's will come in as text msgs.. and you can instantly reply back by simply replying to the text msg.
Then of course if you want to see who is on your buddy list or send a msg to someone that hasn't already sent you a msg, just sign in to Agile messenger and baaam! you got your buddy list

Adam... you bring up a great point... this might be the reason why others are getting charged for their Agile Messenger service... because they are using Instant Message Forwarding. I would assume that using the program itself would not charge you. What do you all think?

I cut a mp3 song into 10 seconds long and changed it into a WAV. file. I moved it to Windows. When I go to change the alarm tone, the file shows up but when i select it, it doesnt work and it automatically changes to Default. Can anyone help me? The tones they give me for alarms can hardly be heard even when im awake. Thanks

Hmm... maybe its not the right WAV format... I know, I know you're probably saying what do you mean, isn't WAV already a format? Try converting the WAV to Windows PCM format and it should work.

Well, it depends on what you mean by regular. WAV's can be saved as a bunch of "sub" formats. Here are a few .WAV formats for your viewing pleasure:

Windows PCM
Windows PCM - 6 channel
Microsoft ADPCM
DVI/IMA ADPCM
ACM waveform
A-Law and mu-Law

So yeah, for ultimate compatability, you'll want the Windows PCM WAV format. Let me know if you have any more questions.
