Hell, i am new to the forums, pocket pc's, and some terms all together. I recently got a Cingular 8125 Pocket PC because i like Qwerty Keyboards and i figured a pocket PC has more functions then a regular phone. Now with the questions.
I have no type of internet plan, just 39.99 a month plus 200 text messages.
I have read the previous post about internet/games/downloading software from this site. However how would i go about doing this? I read on the forums a way to use the net without being charged. So i went with one of the process to remove MediaNet, but when i got to manage existing connections i got....
Auto Pick (Its selected)
My ISP CSD (Not selected, then a series of numbers)
My ISP GPRS
My computer is currently connected to the internet and my Pocket PC is connected to my computer if that counts.
I just would like to know how to use the internet.
(I just got a notification.) "Linksys [Unsecured]" network connects me to
The internet (or work via a VPN)
or
Work.
What is that? I don't even have a lynksys router.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll just work on trying to change my Mp3's to ring tones.
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict Silk E Stylez! That's great to hear that you are trying to get the most out of your phone. I'd recommending deleting all of the itmes in that first list.
As you were saying, your computer creates a pass-through connection for your Pocket PC so that it can get the same internet without being charged extra.
And about the notification. It seems as though your Cingular 8125 picked up the "Linksys [Unsecured" access point because it is near you (it doesn't matter if its yours or not). If you want to connect you should select "The Internet."
But remember that because it is an unsecured network not only can you get internet on your device, but others can access your device as well if they wanted to. Do that at your own risk.
