I did a search on this and didn't find to much so forgive me if it’s already been posted...
Anyhow, I’ve been messing around with trying to speed up the 8125 for the past day or so. I want to thank you guys for the info on the RegEdit I did see a bit of improvement on switching between apps and songs. But as I did more research, the over clocking to a stable 240 sparked my interest and I came across allot of research and tools to do it with. The easiest program and by far the most famous from what ive seen is the omapclock… Awesome program and I can see a huge improvement after changing the clock to 240 and clicking Actions>set clock. That is in till the device goes into hibernate mode, then the clock resets its self. I came across what looks like to me a way to use a program called OmapClockPlus to start up a user made shortcut every time windows starts up that will keep the OmapClock Running at 240. But around Step 3 I really have no idea how to make a shortcut or edit the shortcut like they are asking with TotalCommander. If any one could break this down in English for me.. That would be beautiful!
I appologize if this is old news to any one, just wanted to post as much info as possible just in case
2) Copy OmapClock.exe to PDA (e.g \Program Files\OmapClock)
3) Make a shortcut ("\Windows\Startup\OmapClock.lnk") to PDA by using tools like ToalCommander or GSFinder.
4) Edit the shortcut
File name : OmapClock.lnk (e.g OverClock Speed 240MHz)
-------------------------------------------------- 30#"\Program Files\OmapClock\OmapClock.exe" -clock 240
--------------------------------------------------
(30 is just a example. Keep the original number.)
I haven't tried this tweak myself but I'd assume creating a shortcut as described in your post should be as easy as using the Explore tool in ActiveSync, right clicking on OmapClock.exe and creating the shortcut, then cutting the shortcut and pasting it in your \Windows\Startup folder.
Let us know if you need any other help but thanks for the overclocking tip!
O I only wish it was that easy Tim, heh I now have total commander and GSfinder on here and have tryed both of them. Even making the shourtcut in GSFinder and editing the direct path to it, to link to the exe, that was placed in program files and nothing is working... I have been playing around with this for the past day or so and can't figure it out.. But if course its a user error on my part Love how the device runs when its set at 240mhz its just a pain to go to the OmapClock program and change it everytime I bring the phone out hibernate if i want it to run at that speed.
What I did to get the shortcut was to copy and rename an existing link, OmapClock.lnk. For the path I put in:
"\Program Files\OmapClock\OmapClock.exe" -clock 240
Once I did this the OmapClock.exe icon was displayed. I did a soft reset to test it out and it came back up with the select clock speed box set at 132MHz but the Current Clock: 240MHz.
