Don't want to pay to get your HTC Wizard, i-mate K-JAM, Cingular 8125, or T-Mobile MDA Vario unlocked? Well, you don't have to. I found the directions and file from machinagod from forum.xda-developers.com:
1 - Unzip lokiwiz.zip to somewhere in your computer
2 - Guarantee that your phone is connected via ActiveSync with the computer
3 - Execute lokiwizMSL.bat (on your computer! My inbox is filled with this kind of error)
4 - It will give you the SIM unlock code after it runs, just get a different SIM from the one your phone is locked to and insert the code...
5 - Have fun...
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q - Will it hard-reset my device?
A - No. It will do a soft reset at the end of the process for applying the changes
Q - I locked my device and now it shows only the SIMlock window
A - Get your phone showing the SIMlock window. Connect it via ActiveSync. Use the tool to get your unlock code
Q - How about the CID unlock tool? (for using any type of roms)
A - Doesn't work yet... Stay tuned
Q - I'm having problems with Unlocker not connecting to the phone
A - Disable all kinds of Antivirus, Firewalls and similar applications before running Lokiwiz.
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict ArcherIV! That's a great question. There are actually three MDAs out there and I know it can get confusing so here is an explanation for you:
T-Mobile MDA Compact:
T-Mobile MDA Pro:
T-Mobile MDA Vario:
In the US, the T-Mobile MDA Vario is the same as the T-Mobile MDA. So check to see what MDA you are using and there you have it!
I have a Tmobile MDA and i've tried this approach but it wotn work. Probably because i have a updated ROM (2.26.10.2 WWE). Can you please either suggest an alternative method or give step by step instructions on downgrading the ROM and unlocking it.
All you have to do is call your provider and request it. Tell them you will be going to the UK or Asia and they will send you the unlock code at no charge.
I just bought T-Mobile MDA,
ROM version: 1.8.10.2 WWE
ROM Date : 12/10/05
Initially I ran into problem on step 5 above, complaining that the path was not right but said the phone was unlock. Finally I suspect the Lokiwiz02b.zip file may be the issue. So I went to this place to download
I know T-mobile MDA variants and the O2 XDA variants are practically the same phones but was just manking sure thig would work on my XDA II before I tryed it out as I`m going to work in germany for a few months and was wanting to unlock the phone.
I can just get a deutch telecom pay and go sim card to use while i`m over there.
thanks a lot guys .. will try this out.. Have any of your guys faced any problems let me know, what kind of precautions should be taken while unlocking..
I did the steps correctley but when i inserted My sim card it opened a window that said "Enter Unlock Code" what code is it talking about, and before i inserted the code it told me that the Device is Unlocked.
My guess is that it is asking for the power-on security code, not to be confused with the unlocking process. It is typically copied to your SIM card so it is not surprising that you need to enter it before accessing your wireless account after inserting the card.
Hi Thanks for that have unlocked my MDA with Lokiwiz03a now put new sim card in and can not find new network can any one help me please like the site
Thank you
Garry

I had ver 2.25 on my phone when I unlocked it, so I'm not sure what would happen when you upgrade. When I unlocked 8125, it gave me unlock code, but when I inserted T-Mobile SIM, the phone did not ask for unlock code, so I guess that it was shipped unlocked.

nothing worse then having bought an unlocked phone then to upgrade to Cingulars update Rom ver and the phone gets locked.
I do not have the unlock code
If I can get a firm answer that would be great
I have the same question as josemsm. I just got a T-Mobile MDA and used the process described here to unlock it. The unlock went perfectly. Now I'm wondering whether I should upgrade the ROM. I have ROM version 1.8.10.2 WWE. It seems like people with updated ROMs are having a hard time unlocking their phones. I'd like to update my ROM, but I don't want to take the chance of it re-locking and not being able to unlock it. Anybody have the expertise or experience to answer this question? Thanks.

I looked into it, the conclusion from my search is the update might cause more problems then u would care to deal with. But there are other updates by pda phone geeks. iwill get back to u.
