Done a little bit of looking around on this site and it certainly seems to be the place to go for some help with an 8125, so I just registered and I'm hoping you all can help me out!
I just picked up my 8125 yesterday and so far am very happy with all the features besides one... the connections/network feature.
It seems like there's a lot of potential in the network feature I just can't figure out how to work it all. I set up one connection (it seemed like there were none out of the box?) that was the MediaNet connection through Tim's tutorial which was easy and simple to set up! (Thanks Tim). But I'm still not sure how it all works. Are there connections I can use other than MediaNet but without a WiFi connection? Also how the heck do I connect to the WiFi connection in my house? Is there a WiFi choice under conenctions that I for some reason can't see? Is there an easy way to tell when there is a WiFi network connection in range?
Why can't the phone just coooooonnect to a network when it finds it? Ohhhhh man
Anyway, I hope you guys can help me out, Sorry for being such a newb
let be just the first to welcome you to the forums...con grats as well on the purchase of your 8125...im still not to familiar with the connections as well but to actually turn on the wifi and have it search for a signal...go to the comm manager which is located next to the battery icon at the bottom right corner of the screen...once in the comm manager there is a wifi button that can be turned on...
To see if there is a wifi connection in range..i believe you go to Start>settings>connections tab>wireless lan...i think..
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict quiddlet! There are a few thnigs you can do with the Connections tab on your Pocket PC, but most of us out there will be fine with the GPRS and WiFi settings by default. If you are really curious, you could use a cell phone with infrared or bluetooth to connect up to the internet or if you went to another country and put in another sim card you could change the seeings without deleting the MediaNet settings.
I believe jonperezinsd has the right directions to see what WiFi networks are available to connect to.
