Hi, I'm trying to put new ringers on my 8125 and I'm having trouble... I put the editted .mp3 files in my "rings" folder under "windows" and it won't play it... just reverts to the default ringer and when I click the little play icon to test it under settings, it doesn't play anything... what's happening?
Is there a file size limit? Why won't it use my mp3 files as ringers? None of them are longer than 40 seconds long either...
I think what it is, is that you are saving the files into the wrong folder. I dont remember exactly what the file extension was, but do a search in the forums for ringtones. And there is a thread stating which folder to save into
I've put the tones in both the sounds folder and the rings folder and they just don't work. It's not that I'm saving them in the wrong folder, because they show up on the drop-down menu to choose as a ringer, they just won't play when I choose them and when I click "ok" the windows default ringer shows up and overrides the ringer I chose.
Well, I just figured out what's going on... the mp3s won't play at all on my 8125. I get this message when I try to open them up at all:
"The file 'such and such mp3 file' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
It does it with every type of mp3 file I've tried to play, whether it's the trimmed down mp3 ringtones I've created or full mp3s that I just copied to my storage card.
How can I set up my phone to accept these files and play them??? Help!! I'm currently suffering from crappy generic ringtone syndrome!
to get your mp3s to play as ringtones you have to put the file into the 'rings' folder under 'windows'... and when you go to set your ringtone it will come up in the drop-down menu for choosing ringtones. Now if you want to save space on your device you could also edit the files to shorter lengths... read the posts above and there will be links for programs to do just that. Hope this helps!
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict really820! Place the .wav file under the windows directory, then it should appear in the drop-down menu when choosing your alarm.
i am a new user of the great 8125 and im not good at computers i was very into this phone tho so i got it. and i love everything cept the ringtone thing, and i dont get how to get the songs onto the phone. im the kinda person that needs step by step instructions.
I need some help, please. I just can’t make my Cingular 8125 to play new sounds for Text Message notifications. I have read most (if not all) of the recommendations in this forum about the subject and taken action accordingly.
I have put the new sound files (MP3, WAV, WMA) in the proper folders using 2 methods: Copy/paste and Tap/hold “set as ringtone”
Just to make sure I put the new sounds in both the Application Data\Sounds folder and in the Windows\Rings as well. Please see attached image of where the sound files are. File size should not be an issue, the Ferrari is a 6 sec clip, 27 KB.
Yes, I CAN see the new tones in the phone ring dropdown menu and they DO work well there. However, I CAN’T see them in the dropdown menu for Settings à Sounds & Notifications à Messaging: New text message. All I see is those lousy brief default beeps.
This is driving me crazy, I need the phone to play something LOUD and LONG with incoming messages, otherwise I loose contact with the outside world.
