Hello all, this is my first post. I just got a Cingular 8125 and am trying to get my AOL account working. I've tried configuring automatically and manually, but I can't send mail, only receive. I've consulted the Windows Mobile site and the AOL site, but still no results.
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict deke1957! Quick question. I don't use AOL and I don't know anyone who still does so I was wondering if AOL offers POP3 for their e-mail accounts. If so, I would be more than happy to help you get it set up on your Cingular 8125!
Another suggestion is why not create an yahoo email that support pop3, then you can configure your AOL account to forward your email to your yahoo account.
On you pocket pc side setup your yahoo email automatically.
Let us know.

That's a good recommendation, however personally I like to keep things as "converged" as possible. Also if deke1957 wanted to send out an e-mail it would be sending out from the Yahoo E-mail...
Hey Tim, Murduck, thanks for the welcome. AOL is an IMAP email deal. The mail program on the 8125 can do it, and even will set it up automatically, but it's not working. I can get mail, but I can't send.
I had no problems on my Treo (which I lost), and got the 8125 to replace, so I'd really like to make it work.
No problem deke1957! Here is what you do to get AOL e-mail up and running on your Cingular 8125:
Start>Messaging>Menu>Tools>New Account...
then enter in your AOL email address. When auto configuration runs hit next to skip that step. Put in your name then your AOL screenname (everything before the @ sign) and your password.
Change the Account Type to IMAP4 and the Name to "AOL." Here is the server information you need to get it going:
You'll notice that I'm telling to use Cingular's Wireless SMTP Server rather than AOLs. This is because AOL's SMTP server requires authentication as well as another port to be set rather then the default 25.
If you hit options you can change the settings to check for e-mail every x minutes.
After you press finish it should be ready to go! Let us know if this doesn't work for you!
