Unfortunately you are correct in stating that the current builds of these versions do not support Windows Mobile 5.0. However, Missing Sync has an alpha version that supports Windows Mobile 5.0 (and your O2 XDA Atom). Now, there are no promises, but I recommend checking it out anyway at the link below:
