Howto BACKUP (not SYNC) my O2 Atom

Hi,

I have a new O2 Atom and have entered some contact details, calendar entries, etc, and now find out that my ROM is not the latest. I want to update the ROM but not lose my data.

What's the easiest way to backup ALL my data, either to a laptop or a miniSD card, so that I can restore all my DATA if the ROM upgrade trashes my data.

Thanks,
Brendan.

Why not use the built-in backup application in your Atom, i believe in O2 they have xBackup. This apps let you backup in Storage card and you can choose between "All Data" or "Contacts and Appointments only".
Better yet you can get an 3rd party backup application like Sprite Backup or the new SPB Backup.
Personally i prefer the first one.

Thanks for the reply. I don't see xBackup on my Atom. Is it a standard app? If so, where is it hiding Maybe it's in the new ROM image that I want to upgrade to. Mmmmm, possibly chicken and egg problem?

I will check out the others too.

Thanks,
Brendan.

I also did not find it whne i did take a look at the new Atom, i thought the application is included like the one that i have in my xda IIs and Mini. Maybe it was only for the Win mobile 2003se.

But you can always try the new Spb Backup or Sprite Backup try to choose and you can decide which will work for you.

Welcome to Pocket PC Addict fdy! I believe there should be a program called SIM manager on the Atom but I'm not 100% sure. Can you check to see if that is available. If it is, you can copy all of your contacts from your SIM to your ATOM!

Let us know!

To answer to Brenda, I think O2 distributes the Outlook together with the pack. You could sync to the PC before u upgrade. If there's any probs, u can sync back later... Outlook has contact details & calendar entries too.
