I have port 1010 open on my Windows XP machine, with Windows Media Encoder running a webcam stream from the box.
My internet connection IP address is paired with www.dyndns.org, my firewall allows incoming/outgoing connections from WME, but I still can't get access to the stream from WMP10 on my XDA Exec using the following path example:
"Cannot find the file. The file might have been removed, renamed or deleted. If the file is stored on a server or a removable storage card, the server might not be available."
Have you tried entering that URL in Internet Explorer Mobile? That might do the trick. Also, you might want to try other webcam programs like Webcam 1-2-3.
I'm also thinking that you might not have the URL down right, but then again I'm not well versed in Windows Media Encoder.
I've repeatedly tried to get this to work, and I'm getting nowhere.
I know for a fact that the webcam stream from Windows Media Encoder on my Windows XP PC is working fine, as I've tested it on other PCs, and I've had friends test it on their home and work connections. So, it's definitely not the stream that's at fault.
I checked my Network settings on Windows Media Player on my XDA Exec by going to MENU>OPTIONS>NETWORK tab and chosing 'Cellular 384kbps' if I'm trying to connect using GPRS/3G and 'Wi-Fi/LAN (1.0mbps or faster)' if I'm using my wireless connection, and I still get nothing. There's a place for a UDP port, but it's currently set to 0. Should it be set to something?
When I open an MMS stream, here's what I do:
I go to Windows Media Player, select MENU>LIBRARY, then MENU>OPEN URL and input the link:
mms://www.name_of_URL.com:1010
I seem to be able to open static files, such as WMV files (which download, then play), but not "live" MMS streams.
Have you tried streaming via RTSP? If you need to stick with MMS (which is depreciated) you can try to add additional query strings to the URL. Here is an example:
To specify that Windows Media Player has a 50 Kbps connection speed, and that it is trying to get a 100 Kbps stream from the content:
It's definitely not the streaming that's causing the problem - I'm certain it's the settings on Windows Media Player 10 on my XDA Exec. I can access the stream without any problems from outside my home network across the internet, but just not on my XDA Exec using WMP10.
