Only been a member for a couple of days and a Pocket PC owner for about a week now. I am so pleased with my new iPAQ 6515. Was glad to have found this site, have been lurking on the forums and playing some arcade games. Great site, appreciate the information and the fun time.
Are there any aps that you consider "essential" on your Pocket PC? For example, anti virus programs, are they needed on the PPC? I have used Symantec (Norton's) for years now both at home and in the office and I wonder if the $40 to buy the mobile edition would be worth it? Any other aps that you consider a "must have".
Thanks again for the great site. I look forward to being a contributing member!
Never had a virus on a PPC and wouldn't worry much about it. I require Laridian Pocket Bible, a good MP3 player, Audible player, a few games, and a couple of mapping apps for my GPS. All else is good but fluff. (movie viewer, pocket weather, skinning apps, etc...
Enjoy!
You mention that you use a couple of mapping apps for your GPS. What apps are you using? My iPAQ came with MS Pocket Streets and to be truthful I am not that impressed. I think that it would be cool to be able to have GPS working with Google Maps but I haven't been able to find an ap that does this yet.
When I am just looking for a local address, pocket streets is quickest. I have used Ostia. Wasn't too impressed. I prefer the pocket version of DeLorme Street Atlas. Won't use Tomtom after those awful commercials.
