i'm looking for some tips on using this MDA pocket pc phone. I've been a Treo user for the last 2 years until it died and went to treo heaven last week. Being with T-mobile (they don't carry Treo's) I decided to go with the MDA. I'm starting to get used to it but any tips would be appreciated i.e. four way navigation. and not always having to press "ok" everytime I need to exit a screen. thanks in advance, VN
I have just bought the T- Mobile MDA ,
Cant get the active sync to work rendering this useless to me .
device is recognised but no set up a partnership screen comes up

I've just had the MDA for 4 intense days, and am still getting used to the crazy button setup... but I'm happy because the screen is much clearer than my Treo 600 and Internet is a blast! (I'm using the Opera Mobile Browser)
Active Sync works OK, though I don't like the "Windows knows your computer better than you do" attitude that makes it do whatever it wants to without my instructions...
I've found that the little "x" on the upper right hand corner closes screens (and programs), and that there is a little "OK" there where I can close input and menu screens... this is a BIG difference from the TREO, where the buttons controlled everything... now my fingernail is getting a big workout...
As for the keyboard, it's bigger and better, but not as easily integrated into my search routines.
I also miss the categories for my contacts... but I'm not complaining...
I hope more users give you good advice about the equipment, so I can take notes...
That's a great quick review for Treo converters manperez! But I have a few tips for you to make your Pocket PC experience worth even more your while.
Be sure to stop by our downloads section and pick up a try out copy of Spb Pocket Plus... this program is definetly a must have for your Pocket PC, as it offers features Windows Mobile 5.0 should of had in the first place. Features like having the "X" actually close a program, as well as a Today screen plug in with all the information you need about your Pocket PC at your fingertips.
Also, you can still use categories with your contacts! Try setting categories in Microsoft Outlook on the desktop and then while you are in the Contacts application hit menu and then filter.
Well, that's it for now, if you have any other questions let us know!
anyone know a way to get the filter to come up automaticly when you click contacts? i want all my contacts for caller id and reference purposes, but i i would like to click contacts and only see my most used categorie.
I, too, wish I could get the filters on Outlook to work better... I really miss the quick buttons for my regular calls dthat I had in the treo... Tim gave me some great tips on the Forum (see above)... and Murduck did, too... The critical thing is getting the mini SD card to expand your memory... If you don't do that, outlook and Windows will start crashing due to lack of memory.
yep, i picked up a mini sd card at frys yesterday, you cant beat 29 with a 5.00 rebate for a 1 gig card.. i need to check the forums here, i havent really seen any speed tweaks directly pointed at the MDA for expansion cards, other than uninstalling and reinstalling programs to it.
