When I think about USAToday, I normally do not associate it with technology tutorials. Wednesday, however, they branched out into a wireless overview in their article Making sense of life without wires which is for people new to the terms and specifications of Bluetooth and WiFi.
"So what exactly is Bluetooth?
It's a "short-range" radio standard. It lets you connect gadgets without cables or cords, at a range of up to 30 feet. Though Bluetooth has been around for about a half-dozen years, American consumers have been slow to embrace it. Devices that used early versions of Bluetooth were costly and sometimes incompatible with other Bluetooth devices.
Even now, Bluetooth devices must share the same profile to communicate with one another. For example, a Bluetooth headset that needs to link up to a Bluetooth cell phone must share the"headset profile." There are 28 profiles in all, such as "basic printing" and "synchronization profile." Make sure the Bluetooth device you're considering is capable of talking to the devices you want it to." Are you new to WiFi or Bluetooth and find yourself with more questions than answers?
