A web site is offering to buy your old piece of junk cellphone(s) for recycling. They are reportedly paying between $1 and $100 for each one. If you don't care about the money, another alternative is I've seen drop boxes at Staples, where you can simply throw them into a bin and they'll recycle too.
Considering it takes nearly as much energy and resources to build a cellphone as it does a Volkswagon beetle, recycling might be a good thing to think about via LifeHacker

You see that sort of thing scares the hell out of me. Most people will look at that and go "whatever". People don't want to think about recycling because it costs them time and money, it's much easier to put it in the bin. The sad thing is our hedonistic lifestyle will cost future gererations much more than time and money.
But there are good people who try to correct this, even if their ideas are a bit wacky....
