One thing you can count on is how "un-intuitive" Pocket Inbox is for configuring options. One question I get a lot, and is one of the more confusing options to configure is how to handle attachments for email. For example, let's say you work out of town and need Outlook to download all of your messages AND attachments for use when you are on the road. By default, all that is synchronized is the email and a link to the attachment. So you must configure Pocket Inbox to sync both the emails and attachments.
One reason this is confusing is when you configure your inbox for pop-mail, you configure attachment handling from the Pocket Inbox app itself. Whereas, when you want to configure your Outlook sync-mail you make those settings in Activesync.
So in order to configure your Pocket Inbox to download all attachments to your Pocket PC's Inbox app you do the following: Step 1: Open Activesync on your desktop computer and hit the Options button. Step 2: Select Inbox and then hit the settings button. Step 3: Under the Mail Synchronization settings, put a checkmark in the Include file attachments box. You can also limit the size of the attachments if you like to save space. Hit OK. Saving Attachments to a Storage Card
If you have a storage card such as a Secure digital or Compact Flash card in your Pocket PC, you can use the steps below to save the attachments to the card instead of main memory. This saves your main memory for other tasks and apps. Step 1: Now open Inbox on your Pocket PC. Go to the Tools menu and choose Options. Step 2: Choose the Storage Tab and then put a check mark in "Store attachments on storage card"
I have a unique situation. I don't want to sync my Inbox, but there are some attachments I receive from automated systems. Due to Outlook's inability to handle attachments, I purchased the powerful tool EZDetach. I combine it with Outlooks rules and batch files, and these attachements are identified, the ZIP file detached, the ZIP file extracted, its contents renamed, and the final file placed in directories for synchronization to the PPC.
Hi CEGiven and welcome to our forums
That's an interesting method/suggestion so it's all handled from your desktop? This is the EZDetatch link I found.
