Help ---- Lost All Files
Have A Toshiba (PDA-1032) (Mastro) Pocket PC, Model #CETO150A
Running Windows, Active Sync and something called Arm
Took the unit out of my brief case and it was dead, No power, my first thought was that the battery was gone however it charged up and was good to go, except every thing was wiped out, CLEAN!
I have no idea what happened, I put the unit on its charging cradel every couple of days.
I thought no big deal I will restore from my PC, when I restored from my PC the only thing that came back was some word files, turns out my contacts (address/phone book) was not syncing/storing on my pc with activesync
How does this unit store info/files? Are they recoverable? Is there hope?

Aww, my old pocket pc, it forever will have a place in my heart.
The bad news...It sounds like (Somehow) Your battery died, and that model pocket pc doesn't have a backup battery (Pretty sure) Which means your dad is gone. There's no way to recover lost data from volatile memory.
I'm sorry, I know your pain. May I recommend SpriteBackup For a great Pocket PC backup solution I personally use and love.
Hi Brad----Went to you'r tutorial on ActiveSync very informative but raises more questions
!. What exactley is a hard reset & how do you do it? On a PC you would format the drive etc
2. I do not have the option /ck off box in active sync to sync Address/Contacts, Calender,Notes & Tasks. How do I get these options?
3. Does one have to have outlook in order to get this done?
Thanks

1. On most pocket PC's you press and hold the power button and soft reset button at the same time (You will lose all your data and your Pocket PC will be restored to like it was straight from the factory)
2. I'm pretty sure this is because you don't have outlook
3. Yes.
O.K.
Duh...........Light Bulbs are going off in my brain
I did not want OutLook because of security issues, I use Mozilla & MSN HotMail for simple E-Mail, Lotus for secure E-Mail
But you are saying this PPC lockes me into outlook if I want it to work/Sync?
Ron Pippins PRonMary@msn.com
Well I don't even sync messages on my computer, I just exported my address book from ThunderBird into Outlook and then onto my pocket pc. Now I just use my pocket pc email independently of my desktop, even though it's the same email. Something I've noticed is when you download read and delete messages on your pocket pc, and then get home, they still show up in your desktop inbox, so it leaves them on the server.
Dear God... I hate MicroSoft/Windows CRAP
I just did a Hard reset (after a back-up)
Now nothing works------------I.E. or media player or sync
Why can't these lousy things just work as they are advertised, plug & play is a sick joke. I am about ready to take a hammer to this and put me out of my misery. I dont have time for these games/hoops
