How do I set up my pocket pc & desktop to access t/ inte

Iam quite new to Pocket PC world. My HP 3115 synch's perfectly to my desktop. I am suing Journal Bar and it appears to have access to teh internet. However, if I try to access the ineternet from my Pocket PC through my desktop I get the little message that a contact can not be achieved.
I would therefore appreciate either of the following: Someone to give me explicit instructions on how to be able to connect to the net through my desktop and a high speed DSL connection. Second alternative, is to point me to somewhere that I can get detailed instructions
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
The Coach

There are a few programs set up to get internet through your desktop, hoever the majority of them require your pocket pc to connect directly (Can be through a router) to the internet via a modem, wireless, or ethernet card.

Thank you PockyBum522,
What does this mean in terms of hardware accessories for my Pocket PC to connect for example to a router.? I am guessing that Bluet Tooth connection would not do, is this correct?
I am reasonably savvy computer wise but this is a completely new world for me. Happy to learn whatever you can share.
Thank you!

First question would be do you have a router? (Little box with blinky lights and cables going between your computer(s) and dsl/cable modem)
If it's wireless you can use something like this:

Or This:

If it's only ethernet you need something like this:

And if you don't have a router at all you'll ned a modem:

Happy Holiday PockyBum 522,
Thanks for the links. I do have a (wired) router which is currently not installed with my desktop. I have been considereing setting up a wireless net to give the other computer in the house access via my high speed connection so in that case the Sandisk options would be the ticket.
I also been considering setting up a Blue Tooth base for my desktop. Since my IPAQ is BT enabled would this then give me access to the internet via the DSL connection on my desktop or is it merely an alternative connection to the USB cradle?
How do you then protect your Pocket PC from viruses etc if it then connected through a router directly to the Internet or is the desktop's firewall protection opeative for the Pocket PC?
Thanks very much for taking the time to guide a neophyte.
Fondly,
The Coach

I believe BT is only an alternative to the USB cradle, however, I can't say you couldn't use internet through it for sure as I haven't tried that yet with my Pocket PC, but I'm sure someone here will know what you can do with BT and post an answer here (Hint hint to all the oldbies)
There are antivirus solutions for pocket pc, I don't use them because I'm bold/stupid/not worried. Usually the threat from a pocket pc is copying an infected file onto the pocket pc, and then back onto a desktop and running it there, as there are only a few pocket pc viruses and desktop viruses can't harm your pocket pc, so my reccommedation is use a good virus scanner on your desktop.
Now that was a long run-on sentence

Thanks once again PB522,
Yes, I am very dutiful about keeping my desktop scanned and protected. In fact ran a complete system scan last evening while looking after a friends dog. VG use of idel computer time in my book.
I think I will put a wireless card on my Holiday wish list a long with a wireless router. Once those are in hand I may require your coaching on setting up the Pocket PC.
Much apprecaite your prompt responses. I am glad to know I am part of a community that extends a hand for those in the technical dark.
Be well and Happy Holidays!
The Coach
