In an editorial over at CNet News.com, Declan McCullagh says that VoIP users may want to cheer the Bush presidential win. "President Bush's second term is likely to yield ballooning deficits, further erosion of civil liberties, and military adventurism that will estrange the United States from the rest of the world.
But a decision last week illustrates why Bush's ascendancy is terrific news for Internet telephony companies that would have experienced a tougher time if a Democrat had moved into the White House.
The Federal Communications Commission's vote on Tuesday in favor of voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, companies nicely captures the long-running discord between the Democrats' regulatory fetishism and the Republicans' regulatory restraint. "
So Pocket Skype VoIP users, what do you say?
Jeez, Brad....
In my other life I am a partisan-as-all-get-out drum-beater. I have picked fights with friends and family over politics for years and this year darn near brought on some disownings on both sides of the fence.
But I have used my PPC sites to escape the maelstrom and chill out with some politically neutral content.
Now here you go wanting to open the gates of hell.
Regulatory mandates, reform and justification are fine and legitimate topics I agree. And if'n you want to discuss them in that kind of milieu and spirit.. I'm all for it. But to couch your opening gambit in the cloth of "a Bush win is a win or a loss for PPC users... please discuss," man, that's just blood in the water.
I'm just saying...
now, now... I just found it to be interesting that someone would write an editorial about voice over I. P. and mentioned George Bush's name all in one breath. I did not want to get your goat...
