If you are one of the lucky people who have been able to obtain a Gmail (google mail) account, you may have been a little disappointed that there is a problem accessing it through the Pocket PC. msmobiles.com has posted a workaround on how to read Gmail on your Pocket PC using "purely Microsoft technologies and without additional programs". It's mainly based around using Terminal services and a desktop machine. Note: msmobiles is getting alot of flack over this tip. Personally, I don't like workarounds that involve using Terminal Services because it's like cheating . But that's just my opinion. Not everyone knows how to use Terminal Services Client - so it's just one more way to get the job done. "There is no doubt that Gmail - a free e-mail service from Google - is the best web based e-mail service on this planet - similarly like Google search engine, that is the best. However Gmail has one tiny disadvantage for fans of mobility: it can't be used on mobile devices, because Google is financing this service with advertisements that are not visible in mobile devices.
To work around these problems some dodgy websites have been offering mobile access to Gmail thanks to certain PHP scripts, that run on the side of the server. However usually in such cases you are compromising your security - your user name and password can be sniffed. On the other hand the very best and the richest Internet browsers that are available for mobile devices, including even NetFront of latest version, are not able to access Gmail ! "
