msmobiles.com a site that seems to "let it all hang out" with their commentary and criticism has received some "Unofficial Information from Microsoft" that Microsoft's Smartphone platform is on the way out. Instead, Microsoft will go with a different platform altogether. "Microsoft created Microsoft Smartphone platform as a result of aping, mimicing, the platform structure of Symbian operating system. However now Microsoft realizes, that this move was a mistake: tiny number of applications for Microsoft Smartphone platform is a proof of it.
So Microsoft now offers 2 platforms for cell phones: Pocket PC Phone Edition - based on Pocket PC PDA with huge library of software - and very new Microsoft Smartphone - also based on Windows CE but crippled by small number of third party software and by decision of Microsoft not to port some basic software (like Pocket Excel, Pocket Word, MS Reader) from Pocket PC to smartphone "
hmm...very interesting. But no difference to your no-Smartphone carrying webmaster. However, I am sure you have your opinion so Post IT!
Well at least we've still got a couple of years to go.
I'm looking to upgrading my ancient Nokia 6310i to a Motorola MPX 220 (which has WM2003) when it's released, which should be in week or two.
I'm looking forward to checking e-mail on my phone and listening to music on it.
I've had my Nokia so long I get a free upgrade on my next phone.

Now if that was true and the devices are not crippled, it would be a terrific move.
