Hi There! I wonder if anyone here can help?
I recently upgraded from my Dell Axim X5 to an IPAQ4150. My Axim used a buffallo CF WiFi card and could happily access the web via my network connected laptop (Sony Viao PCG-R600). My IPAQ can see the network (Using PocketWINC) but i can't access the internet. It works fine is i connect via the cradle, but that defeats the object.
Something i'm missing? Or is it just a case of my built in WiFi cards in my laptop and IPAQ not being compatible?
Any thoughts, suggestions or otherwise would be gratefully recieved as it is driving me up the pole !!
I am not Sure I understand how you have everything hooked up. Do you have a Wi Fi router or are you trying to use your laptop as an access point?

Is your laptop connected to a router? If so, why not connect your PPC direct to the internet? It's many times faster.

If you still have your Axim, see if all of the multitudinous WiFi settings match those on the iPAQ. Things like WiFi WEP or WPA passwords, 40 versus 128 bit, etc. Or, temporarily remove as many security controls on your laptop as you can (no WEP or WPA at all, broadcast the SSID, etc.) and see if you can get the iPAQ working, then gradually reinstate (or add for the first time!) the various security measures - encryption, no SSID broadcasting, etc.
What do you see with the zero-config screen? You should at least see the SSID, I think, even if you're not yet "talking".
On your laptop/router, you're not restricting MAC (hardware Ethernet) addresses are you?

Are you trying to set up an ad hoc network between your laptop and iPAQ?
I also had trouble setting up a working ad hoc 802.11b network between my laptop and 4150. In the end I gave up and used bluetooth network which allowed me to use my laptop as a internet-through connection.
I think that bluetooth is better from a software point of view to setup ad hoc connections........
