Member "AVSHMU" posted a help request on 19 November 2003 for the subject issue (that I'm dealing with now) but I can't seem to follow the fix he posted.
I also have a Toshiba e755.
Need assistance in understanding how he was able to clear the email out of the ActiveSync Account.

Here's what I do to fix this. Grab sprite backup if you don't have it already. Then backup your device using sprite.
Hard reset your device. Restore using sprite backup, but do a restore where you select each item. Uncheck your inbox and leave the rest checked.
After you restore your mailbox will be empty.
