Questions about how to videoconference on Pocket PC pop up here every now and again. Typically I recommend the user to go grab Microsoft Portrait to fill the bill. Hey, if you are looking for a nicely detailed walkthrough on how to use MS Portrait to videoconference with friends and associates via your Pocket PC, then head on over to MyPDACafe and look at their Video Conferencing on your Pocket PC with MS Portrait walkthrough! "Introduction
This is a guide to help you set up Video Conferencing with your Pocket PC PDA to either another Pocket PC PDA or a Desktop PC. Microsoft Portrait is a software developed by Microsoft Research to enable Video Conferencing over extremely low bandwidth. It is able to handle video transmission over bandwidth as low as 9.6 kbps (which is the speed you get on a normal GSM mobile phone).
Another advantage of using Microsoft Portrait is that it interfaces with MSN Messenger, allowing you to make calls to your MSN Buddies online. Unlike traditional Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) software, you do not need to know the IP Address of the person you’re calling since you will be calling your friends based on their MSN Messenger ID. This is useful since most of us access the Internet with a dynamic IP Address (meaning our IP address change each time to connect to the Internet)"
Sure kills off the old line- "so, what are you wearing?"
