Okay, so I've synced then did a hard reset a couple of times and every time I resync I can't use the same device name. I get an error message saying that the device is already in use. How can i delete the prior device that is in the sync memory? Thanks for any advice.
Go into the following directory (under WinXP):
\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles
and delete the folders you don't want.

I dont have a folder called application
It's called Application Data. But, depending on your WinXP installation it might be under the Local Settings folder instead.

You're right! I forgot it's hidden as it's the first setting I change on a new machine.
