Neil Cowburn: Replacing the iPAQ WLAN Module

One fellow who is not impressed with the signal strength of the built in module of the iPAQ H5450, wanted to see what would happen if he took the iPaq apart to get at the WLAN module. Not really detailed instructions, as he hasn't made the official replacement, but apparently www.ipaqrepair.co.uk is carrying the module replacements with super easy install instructions.
"Not wanting to send the iPAQ off to HP (it's out of warranty, so that would be expensive) because I could still use it, I started to hunt around for spares shops. I found a great site over at www.ipaqrepair.co.uk. Even better this that they have a replacement 802.11b module. Never one to be scared of cracking open some expensive electronic equipment, I had to take a look to see how easy it would be to replace the module myself. It turned out to be extremely easy. In the photo below, the WLAN module on the right was removed from the aluminum housing at the top of the mainboard on the left. "

Actually, I've not replaced it yet. I merely dismantled the iPAQ to see how easy it will be to replace the module before I purchased it.
